A Stage for the Community: Inside TDE’s Annual Holiday Giveback

At the intersection of music, culture, and community, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) continues to prove that hip-hop’s power reaches far beyond the stage. On December 18 and 19, the influential label returned home to Nickerson Gardens in Watts, California, hosting its 12th Annual TDE Holiday Charity Concert and Community Celebration—a two-day event that blended star-studded performances with tangible acts of service for one of Los Angeles’ most under-resourced communities.

Founded by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, TDE has long been known for shaping the sound of modern hip-hop while nurturing artists who prioritize authenticity and storytelling. But for the label, success has never existed in isolation. This year’s holiday celebration drew an estimated 8,000 attendees and resulted in the distribution of $2 million worth of toys, clothing, and community resources, reinforcing a tradition rooted in giving back to the place that shaped the label’s beginnings.

What started as a personal effort has grown into a cultural institution.
“TDE Christmas started as something deeply personal,” shared Brandon ‘Big B’ Tiffith, President of Top Dawg Love The Kids and TDE’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Kids from Nickerson Gardens giving back to the same community that raised us. We were just trying to show up for our neighborhood. Now, twelve years in, it’s grown into a movement powered by our artists, our partners, and our community.”

That evolution was on full display across the two-day celebration. Musically, the concert delivered an unforgettable lineup featuring TDE artists SZA, Jay Rock, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Ab-Soul, Ray Vaughn, Zacari, Kal Banx, and more. Adding to the significance were surprise appearances by some of hip-hop and R&B’s most revered names, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mario, and Monica—artists whose presence underscored the cultural gravity of the moment. But the heart of the event extended well beyond the performances. Alongside the concert, the Community Giveback offered a full day of programming designed to serve families across all ages. Children and teens experienced toy distributions, raffles, youth sports activities, holiday photo installations, and even a snow experience—bringing seasonal magic to a neighborhood that rarely sees it. Adults benefited from barbering services, community resources, and an on-site job fair hosted in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Watts WorkSource Center, which provided employment connections and reentry pathways for formerly incarcerated individuals.

For TDE leadership, the mission remains deeply personal.
“Twelve years in, this concert and toy drive is still one of the most meaningful things we do,” said Anthony ‘Moosa’ Tiffith Jr., TDE President. “It’s our way of showing love where it matters—making sure kids feel seen, celebrated, and excited during a time of year that should feel special.”

In an industry often driven by metrics, streams, and chart positions, TDE’s annual return to Watts stands as a reminder of music’s original role: connection. The label’s ability to merge entertainment with real-world impact illustrates how cultural influence can be leveraged as a tool for collective uplift.

The event’s legacy is evident not only in the numbers, but in the families who return year after year—parents who once attended as kids now bringing their own children, continuing a cycle of care and celebration. As Big B Tiffith noted, “This isn’t just an event—it’s a legacy.”

For The {C} Magazine, the TDE Holiday Charity Concert represents everything at the core of modern culture: artists rooted in their origins, creativity that fuels community, and music that transcends performance to become purpose. In Watts, Center Stage wasn’t just where the artists stood—it was where a community came together, reminding us that the most powerful moments in music are often the ones that give back.
